“Angel Locsin, an angel to 31 scholars and who knows maybe more,” a netizen to the Iba Yan host

Last Sunday, June 28, Angel Locsin’s newest show ‘Iba Yan’ put the spotlight on the value education and stories of Filipinos who prove that despite adversities, can be a determined and humble being with deep conviction in the power of education.

First story was about Roberto ‘Bob’ Latag Mitra, a head teacher from Don Arsenio Sr. Memorial Elementary School in San Pablo City, Laguna, who goes above and beyond to provide quality education to the less fortunate sectors of the community amid pandemic. Sir Bob, a true warrior of education, shows genuine care and compassion, bridging the gap between a culture of despair and a future of hope for the children who live in poverty.

Two of these children were also featured on the last episode who truly inspire by proving that poverty does not mean a person is unable to succeed. They are Ahriel Shean Leysa and Diane Aranzado, students of Don Arsenio Escudero Sr. Memorial School who received full scholarship from the local government of San Pablo City with the help of team ‘Iba Yan’.’

Ahriel and Diane may not have the luxuries in life but it didn’t eat away what they can do academically as they both remain on top of their class. Also with the guidance of their responsible parents and effective educators like Sir Bob, Ahriel and Diane continue to thrive, dream and hope that someday, they will succeed, be the future leaders and educators and give back to their community.

The episode gained positive reactions from netizens whose hearts were captured by these inspiring stories. Thankful for Angel Locsin and everyone behind ‘Iba Yan’ a netizen with the Twitter handle @jremly15 also noted how special this episode is for the show’s host, Angel Locsin who is an advocate for education herself.

“Angel Locsin, an angel to 31 scholars and who knows maybe more. I'm sure she's liking this job more as part of team ‪#IbaYan‬ because this today's episode today is really close to her heart as an advocate for education. ‪@143redangel @ibayanph,” the netizen tweeted. ‬

It can be remembered that Angel also helps in shaping our future by sending 31 scholars to school when she took to Instagram a very inspiring post of how she believes in the power of education.
