There are only few days left before we welcome a brand-new year and it is the perfect time to look back to what have happened this year and recognize those who have made a huge impact and whose name came on top these past few months just like Esquire Philippines’ Man at His Best event which highlights heroes and mavericks from the worlds of film, music, business, art, sport, politics, and more.

“Heroes and Mavericks” two big words that carries a lot of responsibility and honor and this year’s list of honorees certainly embodies all the qualities like that of a hero and has made a big difference and inspire change to others.

The first on the list was the advocate of the year which is none other than Ms. Angel Locsin. Angel has always been the humanitarian and philanthropist. From being well-known for her craft, she has now been recognized for her generosity and compassion to people. What she has done these past few years is really admirable especially in this time of pandemic. Apart from the humanitarian efforts she spearheaded, the actress has always been an active advocate to various causes. She made it her mission to fight for women and their rights and encourage others to speak up.

Other honorees who have definitely inspired us the past year through their works are Masungi Georeserve project manager Ann Dumaliang and trustee Billie Dumaliang, Nine-piece folk-pop band Ben&Ben, Inventor and James Dyson awardee Carvey Maigue, Jollibee Foods Corp president and CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong, Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, Actor John Arcilla, Lawyer and Vice President Leni Robredo, The Philippines' first and only Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa, and Kumu president Rexy Dorado and CEO Roland Ros.
