Angel Locsin with Hidilyn Diaz at 2016 ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID!




In 2016, Hidilyn Diaz nabs silver at Rio Olympics. It was the country’s first Olympic medal after 20 years! She set history back then and made record to beat and just recently, she managed to beat her own record as she became Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist since 1924.


To celebrate her historic win in Rio Olympics 2016, ABS-CBN paid tribute to the athlete on their 2016 ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID. She was featured alongside inspiring and uplifting stories by Filipinos all over the world.


“11 years old ako nag-start sa weightlifting,”


“Before ako nagstart, nag-iigib ako ng tubig pra sa bahay, nagbebenta rin kami ng mga gulay dahil nga sa hirap ng buhay,” Hidilyn shared on the said christmas station ID.




Angel Locsin then walked in the room and had a small conversation with the athlete.


“How do you feel na nirerepresent mo na ang Pilipinas sa Olympics?” Angel asked.


“Proud ako na dinala ko ‘yung bandila ng Pilipinas sa Olympics. ‘Yung mga bata kasi samin, gusto ko na someday mainspire din sila na maging kagaya ko. Gusto kong patunayan sa kanila na hindi porket babae, hindi na kaya,” says Hidilyn.


“Nakakainspire ka bilang isang babae. Saludo ako sa iyo,” Angel added.


Hidilyn Diaz is a solid proof that women can do anything that we set our minds into. She may have lost a few battles before this historic win but her perseverance, courage, and faith led her to become the country’s most valuable athlete!

The couple and their team who are behind the #UniTentWeStandPH campaign have donated 12x24 isolation tents to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center that would be used for persons under investigation and COVID-19 patients. Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. According to Aquino, there are receptionist with complete PPE to facilitate registration. There are also security guards roving 24 hours to ensure safety and tents will be disinfected and and will be cleaned regularly.

After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
