Angel Locsin recounts her “raketera” days and going to the same audition as Solenn Heussaff!




Can you imagine not having Angel Locsin as Alwina or Darna? Can you imagine the entertainment industry without her legacy? It is hard to picture but when she’s starting out as commercial model, being famous and well-known didn’t even cross her mind, her main goal then is to earn and save for her father’s eye surgery.


On Matteo Guidicelli’s podcast, MattRuns, the actress recounts her “raketera” days when she worked hard, hustled, and went to every fashion shows and auditions that came her way. But Angel’s motivation isn’t about being famous or making a name of her own, she worked hard to earn a living, help her family for their day-to-day expenses, and save money never did she know, one audition will change her life forever.


“Bulag kasi ‘yung tatay ko so naghahanap ako ng way para makacontribute sa bahay. Isa akong batang raketera; may fashion show? Game! Auditon? Game! Pero hindi sumasagi sa isip ko na pwede akong mag-artista kasi sa pamilya ko wala namang showbiz, napakasimpleng tao ng pamilya ko.”




Angel Locsin has been into a lot of auditions when she was starting and she has some fun stories about them one of which is her constant encounter with Solenn Heussaff during auditions.


“Si Solenn [Heussaff] lagi kong nakakasabay sa mga VTR, nagcocommute ako mula Caloocan papuntang Makati so nakailang bus ako tapos mag-MRT pa, ang pawis ko, diretso ako audition, pawis ka pa rin naman, haggard ka pa rin, papasok si Solenn galing kotse, ang ganda-ganda ni Solenn talaga ‘yung gusto ko na lang umuwi kasi alam mong hindi ka makukuha.”


Competition in the entertainment industry is tight especially to those who are just starting out. On one highly coveted role, hundreds of auditionees with a lot of potential line up, one will get lucky and others have to go home and wait for another audition and hope for a better result.


At present, Solenn Heussaff and Angel Locsin are two of the most well-known and admired personalities in the biz and even though they started out auditioning for the same parts, they both succeeded in their chosen paths and both leaving their marks in the industry not only through the shows/movies they starred in but through their advocacies and causes they support!

Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. According to Aquino, there are receptionist with complete PPE to facilitate registration. There are also security guards roving 24 hours to ensure safety and tents will be disinfected and and will be cleaned regularly.

After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
