Angel Locsin is this year’s recipient of FAMAS’ Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award!
Everybody knows Fernando Poe Jr. the one and only “Da King” who is known for his thrilling action films that has been well remembered even after decades. He has been one of the inspirations of up and coming action stars and to date, he is still the superior action star in the biz!
Each year, Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS) gives a special recognition for personalities in the biz who excelled in the same field and this year’s honoree is none other than Angel Locsin!
Angel Locsin has been doing action-themed series for more than a decade now, she is called Action-Drama Queen after all.
She first starred in an action-themed teleserye way back 2004 when she headlined Mulawin alongside Richard Gutierrez, its success made her a household name all the more after she portrayed Darna, Sabina in Majika, and Gabriela in Asian Treasures during her early years in Kapuso.
The actress further cemented her stature as the Action Drama Queen when she took a leap on her career and transferred to ABS-CBN. She became iEmmy’s Best Actress nominee because of her performance in Lobo which then later on had 2 more installments : Imortal and La Luna Sangre.
Her last teleserye The General’s Daughter has earned her multiple best actress awards and made the viewers in awe of how she portrayed her role as Rhian Bonifacio and how she delivered her action stunts flawlessly even after years of hiatus because of her back injury.
With all the acting awards under her belt, we can say that Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award is one of the most prestigious ones as it honors her hardwork over the years for the action-themed teleseryes and movie she’s done with which along the way gave her few cuts and bruises.
Congratulations Angel! We are so proud of you!
