Angel Locsin, Judy Ann Santos, and other Kapamilya stars send love to ABS-CBN retrenched workers.
Since ABS-CBN went off the air last May 5th in compliance to NTC’s cease and desist order, they have reportedly been losing 30M - 35M pesos daily. ABS-CBN bosses fought for the network to be given a chance to once again air on free TV but after 12 hearings in the congress clearing all the allegations thrown at them, they were still denied of a fresh 25-year franchise.
They have been off the air for more than three months now and have decreased their operations because of a limited platform. On an official statement made by the network last July 15, they announced that because of the non-renewal of the franchise, they’ve come to a sad decision to retrench some employees. They promised to give the employees concerned benefits in accordance to the law like separation pay, retirement benefits and the likes.
It is disheartening knowing that people are losing their job amid the pandemic and on August 31st, almost 90% of ABS-CBN employees bid their farewell to the network. Some Kapamilya stars cannot help but sympathize to their fellow Kapamilyas who lose not just their job but their second family.
Angel Locsin who has been an ardent supporter of the network and a consistent voice we hear from the start paid homage to her Kapamilya employees and wrote “Isang pagpupugay sa mga nagpaalam na Kapamilya. Maraming salamat, Hanggang sa muli.”
This is not the end for ABS-CBN. While they are still off the air, we can show our support by watching their ongoing shows on their digital platforms: IwantTFC, Kapamilya Online digital on Youtube and Facebook, and Kapamilya Channel on some cable and satellite TV.
