The story behind the design of ‘HER’, Marikina made shoes gifted to Angel Locsin by Zapateria hub.
On Iba Yan’s 7th episode, Angel Locsin and team head to Marikina to check on the shoe making industry situation amid the pandemic. She first visited Marikina Shoe Museum and donated a pair of shoe for their shoe collection. She then met Tatay Rey and learn his story as a shoe repair man. Later on, Angel discovers the struggles of the employees at Roweliza shoe shop and worked with the local government to somehow help them with their needs.
As a token of appreciation, Zapateria Hub, the Philippines’ first creative hub for footwear design and development gave her a pair of shoes. It was a black ankle high boots with a very intricate design and they call it ‘Her’. ‘Her’ is made out of the combination of genuine leather and local weave from Negros by Creative Definitions Online.
On Zapateria hub’s Instagram post, they share the story behind the design and why they presented it to Angel Locsin.
“Hand-crafted in Marikina City, the Philippine Shoe Capital, this pair of shoes bears a design that takes inspiration from the strong women who bravely stand for what they believe in. The first original pair made and the last of its kind was presented to Angel Locsin.”
“This beautiful pair of shoes is named “Her” by 4th generation shoemaker Rico Sta. Ana, a design made to inspire and empower women. Angel Locsin is an embodiment of an empowered woman; we admire her kind heart and brave soul that serves as an inspiration to many.
@therealangellocsin, may you have all the strength to keep fighting the good fight! More power to you.
