“Lost in thoughts” Angel Locsin after ABS-CBN’s bid for franchise renewal was denied.




It surely has been a long journey for ABS-CBN fighting for a franchise. Weeks after weeks of congressional hearings, weeks after weeks of proving that they deserve a franchise, they still are denied to have one even though it was proven that they did not violate the law.


12 hearings, the most number of hearings about franchise renewal to date. ABS-CBN bosses gone through all these hearings with dignity and exhibited their calm and composed demeanor while defending the network. While they were able to come clean in front of the congress backed by the statements of some government agencies, the network was still denied to renew their franchise. The decision was made on Friday, July 10 and amid the call of the network’s employees and its supporters, 70 representatives opted to agree on denying the network a franchise.


More than being sad, this has broke the hearts of the network’s employees and supporters. Angel Locsin who showed her all out support to her home network and went to the caravan held during the votation day shared series of photos of employees who have been devastated upon hearing the news, herself included. On her caption she wrote “Lost in thoughts.”


While these people grieve, it is really disheartening that some are celebrating their misfortune. We may have different stand on issues like this and we can always agree to disagree but celebrating the misfortune of others will always be inhumane.


ABS-CBN might just be another network in the sea of media outlets out there for some, but for their employees, it is not just a network, it is their bread and butter, it represents their dreams.


We stand with ABS-CBN and its employees. We know that one day, we’ll get to see Kapamilya network fly high on free TV once again.

City of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno was filled with so much gratitude as he thanked those people for their outpouring support to the city of Manila via donations and to those who have provided assistance including the philanthropic actress Angel Locsin and her fiancé Neil Arce. The couple and their team who are behind the #UniTentWeStandPH campaign have donated 12x24 isolation tents to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center that would be used for persons under investigation and COVID-19 patients. The said campaign aims to help address overcrowding amid the surge of cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by providing additional room at hospitals operating at full capacity due to the pandemic. 22 hospitals have already received isolation tents and Angel is set to provide tents to 38 more in the coming days. Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Amongst many personalities who spoke up against the government order to close ABS-CBN's broadcast operations, Philanthropic actress Angel Locsin also disapproves of the decision as it will cost even more Filipinos their livelihood. “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik,” she said on her Instagram story. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. According to Aquino, there are receptionist with complete PPE to facilitate registration. There are also security guards roving 24 hours to ensure safety and tents will be disinfected and and will be cleaned regularly.

After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
