Iba Yan gives free medical consultation and haircut to jeepney drivers affected by Covid-19 transportation restrictions!

There is approximately 250,000 jeepneys in the country 75,000 of which are in Metro Manila. This is the primary source of income of approximately 14% of the total number of PUV operators in the country. But because of the pandemic, together with the directives of closing down some establishments as part of the enhanced community quarantine protocol is the temporary halt on mass transportation. Jeepney operators, Tricycle drivers, Bus Operators and any other public utility vehicle are not allowed on the road for the time being.

As the quarantine protocol eases, jeepney drivers have their hopes up that they will be allowed on the road as the country slowly opens up the economy after months of lockdown. On July 3rd, 6002 jeepneys that are categorized as “road worthy” finally received a go signal from LTFRB to operate given that they will comply to the new health protocols.

Prior to LTFRB’s announcement, Iba Yan team heads to the streets of Quezon City and met some of the jeepney drivers who are struggling to make ends meet due to the pandemic. They shared the struggles of Kuya Kulit as he opens up about his mental health problems. They also showed Kuya Alberto’s modified jeepney in preparation for the new normal and surprised Tatay Jimmy and Nanay Emilia with a life-changing gift after hearing what they’re going through because of the pandemic.

As usual, the team did not come empty handed! The team gave the jeepney drivers special treat! They prepared a medical booth where they can get their free consultation through the help of Lingkod Kapamilya, they can also get free medicines and vitamins of necessary.

The team tapped Joseph Dante, the viral street barber in Manila to give the jeepney operators free haircut!
