Bagong laptop, scholarship, at workshop, handog ng Iba ‘Yan kina Philip at Maricel!




Philip and Maricel are both totally blind. On the 6th episode of Iba Yan, the couple shared their stories and struggles on how they deal with being visually impaired growing up.


Through the help of a certain foundation for the blind, Maricel learned some skills that she can use for a living despite her disability. The couple is working as massage therapists but because of the pandemic that we are facing right now, they sadly can’t do it for the time being.


When asked what else are they planning to do to make a living amid the pandemic, Philip shared his plans on pursuing his music and writing his own. Maricel on the other hand has an online job as an audio transcriptionist.




For the past 5 episodes, Iba Yan never failed to surprise the families they feature and visit. For this episode, the team gave a special surprise to Philip; an impromptu jamming with his favorite singer Mr. Rey Valera.


Aside from this, the team also gifted a brand new laptop to Maricel for her online job and a scholarship for a vocational training for medical transcriptioning from TESDA, NCR! To support his passion for music, the team enlisted Philip in a songwriting workshop from Vehnee Saturno Music Corporation!


It is very evident how Phillip and Maricel give importance to education and because of this, team Iba Yan decided to give them something that will support their children’s education.


Their youngest daughter Jazhmin was awarded an scholarship for any 4-year course of her choice through the help of STI College. Jazhmin will also receive financial assistance until highschool from Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano. Bantay Bata 163 also awarded a scholarship assistance to their eldest daughter for SY 2020-2021!

City of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno was filled with so much gratitude as he thanked those people for their outpouring support to the city of Manila via donations and to those who have provided assistance including the philanthropic actress Angel Locsin and her fiancé Neil Arce. The couple and their team who are behind the #UniTentWeStandPH campaign have donated 12x24 isolation tents to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center that would be used for persons under investigation and COVID-19 patients. The said campaign aims to help address overcrowding amid the surge of cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by providing additional room at hospitals operating at full capacity due to the pandemic. 22 hospitals have already received isolation tents and Angel is set to provide tents to 38 more in the coming days. Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. According to Aquino, there are receptionist with complete PPE to facilitate registration. There are also security guards roving 24 hours to ensure safety and tents will be disinfected and and will be cleaned regularly.

After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
