Kim Chiu helps Angel Locsin’s Shop and Share Project by launching #BawalLumabas merchandise
There’s a saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” which means that when there’s sourness or difficulty in life, turn them into something positive or desirable.
And that’s exactly what the Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu did, turning lemons into... an actual music hit “Bawal Lumabas,” complete with a music video! It was based off her statement during a “Laban Kapamilya” stream that made her the target of hate online, which went:
"Sa classroom may batas, bawal lumabas, oh bawal lumabas. Pero ‘pag sinabi, ‘pag nag-comply ka na bawal na lumabas pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo ‘yong law ng classroom niyo at sinubmit mo ulit ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas.”
With the beat created by music arranger DJ Squammy, #BawalLumabas is now a total hit not only serves as an entertainment but also an initiative to provide aid to those in need during this trying time amid pandemic.
Kim Chiu is launching merchandise based on the #BawalLumabas meme which proceeds initially provided food packages to families during the enhanced community quarantine, and now helping raise funds for coronavirus mass testing in the Philippines through Shop and Share 2020 spearheaded by Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis.
Chiu and her team produced T-shirts with colorful designs and catchphrases from her viral video. She thanked both songwriter Adrian Crisanto, who wrote an "open letter" to her on Facebook that encouraged her to face the criticism and move forward, and DJ Squammy who helped her get back up from “one of the lowest points" of her life.
Orders can be made through the @bawallumabas_merch. All the shirts are priced P295.
