#UniTENTweStandPH: Angel Locsin and team raise 5 million pesos in one week!
COVID-19 confirmed case in the Philippines has sadly gone up to over 2,000 cases already. Several hospitals have announced that they can no longer accomodate COVID-19 related patients as they are already operating at full or over capacity. For this reason, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their friends launched a fund drive on March 25 which aims to help solve overcrowding in hospitals. They aim to set up additional tents for patients and the objective is to accommodate more patients who need immediate treatments while also prioritizing the safety of the health workers.
In 24 hours, the team has raised 1 million pesos through their gogetfunding account. Angel Locsin and Neil Arce started putting up isolation tents to beneficiary hospitals 2 days after #UniTENTweStandPH was launched and as of Apr. 2, they were able to donate and put-up isolation tents to 15 hospitals already, 3 of which are Covid-19 referral hospitals; Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, Philippine General Hospital and Lung Center of the Philippines.
One week after they launched the fund drive, the team has raised over 5 million pesos, online and offline donations combined. This will be used to provide isolation tents to 43 more hospitals who sent their request to the team.
The fund drive is still ongoing and the team is still receiving requests. If you are a staff or an admin at a hospital that needs isolation tents, you may send an email to unitentwestandph@gmail.com and if you wish to be part of this project, you may send your donations through Paypal, Paymaya or eastwest bank checking account.
Aside from staying at home, we can help our frontliners combat this disease by supporting fund drive like #UniTENTweStandPH. Your donations, big or small, will definitely make a big difference! Donate now and let’s help our frontliners save lives!
