Rhian Bonifacio and other Kapamilya teleserye female characters who embody empowered women!
What does it mean to be empowered? As defined by Oxford dictionary, empowerment is “the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights." But aside from the textbook definition of empowerment, empowerment or being empowered may have different definitions depending on one's experiences, circumstances and even dreams but one thing is for sure, these Kapamilya teleserye female characters embody empowered women in every sense of the word.
First in the list is the kickass femme fatale on primetime, the mighty heroine of 'The General's Daughter', Rhian Bonifacio played by Angel Locsin.
2nd Lt. Rhian Bonifacio, a trained assassin who is also working as a nurse corps in the military. She strives to be the best daughter to her known parents Heneral Tiago and Amelia only to find out that they abducted her from her biological parents when she was young and was raised to plot revenge against them.
Apart from being able to defend herself, what makes her a great example of an empowered woman is how she willingly submit herself to danger just to save her loved ones. She is a fighter and a tough one, even though her life story is pretty messed up, she was able to rise above it all.
Other female characters that we put the spotlight on this women's month are: the fearless single mom Mia Agbayani of '24/7' portrayed by Julia Montes, the assertive matriarch Luz Mabunga of 'Pamilya Ko' portrayed by Sylvia Sanchez, the high-flyer career gal Billy Dimagiba of 'Make it With You' portrayed by Liza Soberano, the not-so-delicate commander 2nd Lieutenant Lourdes “Lourd” Bacalso of 'A Soldier’s Heart' portrayed by Sue Ramirez, the vindicated lass Camila Dela Torre of 'The Killer Bride' portrayed by Maja Salvador, the resilient dame Romina Mondragon of 'Kadenang Ginto' portrayed by Beauty Gonzales, the incorruptible woman Fina of 'Sino Ang May Sala?
