Real life Darna: Angel Locsin, an empowered and inspiring woman!




Empowered woman empowers woman. To commemmorate International Women’s month, Star cinema features ‘Woman of the day’ boasting their achievements on and off screen and for the first day of the month, they put the spotlight on Angel Locsin and her achievements and humanitarian efforts.


Angel Locsin is a known actress who literally embodies her name as a real life Angel. The actress started her acting career when she was 17 years old and made a name for herself by starring in Romance, Horror, Fantasy movies and TV shows.


The actress has made a name for herself doing one show after the other and became one of the most well-known actresses of her generation as she breathe life to the iconic super-heroine Darna.


Her stardom was further cemented when she decided to take a leap on her career and transferred to Kapamilya network. She starred in the action fantasy themed teleserye ‘Lobo’ where she got a nod from International Emmy’s and became nominated for Best Actress.




The actress continues making a name on the Television scene as she starred in iconic shows like Imortal, The Legal Wife, and The General’s Daughter.


The actress also received commercial success and critical acclaim with her roles in films like In The Name of Love, One More Try, Unofficially Yours, and Everything About Her to name a few.


Angel Locsin is not just an Angel on screen. Outside of her showbiz career, she is a passionate philanthropist. She is always the first ones to respond at times of distress. From personally donating to the earthquake victims of Davao del Sur, to giving education scholarships for students and fighting against violence to women and children, Angel is without a doubt an Angel personified. Because of her humanitarian efforts, the actress was recognized by Forbes Asia as one of the 30 Heroes of Philanthropy.


Angel Locsin really puts a different meaning to the word ‘Woman.’ She is one empowered and inspiring woman the we should look up to!

The couple and their team who are behind the #UniTentWeStandPH campaign have donated 12x24 isolation tents to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center that would be used for persons under investigation and COVID-19 patients. The said campaign aims to help address overcrowding amid the surge of cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by providing additional room at hospitals operating at full capacity due to the pandemic. 22 hospitals have already received isolation tents and Angel is set to provide tents to 38 more in the coming days. Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
