This generation’s new Darna, Jane de Leon is looking forward to meet Angel Locsin!





The first thing that comes to mind when hearing Angel Locsin’s name is her legacy.


She is well-known for her characters both in movies and TV.


At an early age, she already made a name of her own as Alwina and because of her outstanding performance in Mulawin, she was chosen to fly higher as the superheroine Darna.


Her portrayal can be considered as one of the most iconic one. On its 4th episode, more than half of the viewing public were tuned in!


The said episode garnered 52.1% viewership share in mega manila. Her portrayal really made a mark that she was once again tapped to play the role on the big screen way back 2014.




Because of her back injury, Angel Locsin decided to withdraw from this passion project three years ago.


Star cinema is on the hunt for the new Darna, Liza Soberano was then announced to be playing the role but also ends up withdrawing also because of an injury.


Finally, among the massive number of auditionees who are looking forward to portraying the role, Jane de Leon emerge as this generation’s new Darna.


In a recent report, Jane de Leon announced that she is now starting her training for the role.


She was interviewed at the Star Magic event, Black Magic and was asked about the most anticipated project “Una talaga, like siyempre, coming from ate Angel (Locsin), ate Sharon (Cuneta), and others. Masaya and Masaya ako na ‘yung tiwala rin na binigay nila sa akin para gampanan ko ang role.”


Jane also mentioned that she is looking forward to meet Angel Locsin after meeting Liza Soberano “Actually nag-uusap kami ni Liza Soberano, nakapag-dinner na rin kami and ngayon looking forward naman ako kay Ate Angel na ma-meet sya.”


If there’s anyone who can give her the best advice and tips in portraying the role, Angel Locsin is one of the best persons to reach out to.


Her version of Darna is considered as one of the most iconic portrayals to date.




At present, given the fact that she’s no longer part of the project, Angel Locsin is still considered as Darna whether it be in reel or in real life and is oftentimes dubbed as the “real-life Darna.”

Angel Locsin’s stance on ABS-CBN Closure: “Hindi ako uupo at mananahimik”

Earlier this afternoon, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) orders ABS-CBN to halt its broadcast operations following the expiration of its franchise. This means that more than 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries will lose their source of income and it was rather heartbreaking as this shutdown of the Philippines’ biggest broadcast network comes at worst possible time amid pandemic. Darna to the rescue! A closer look to the sleeping tents for our health workers provided by Angel Locsin, Neil Arce and team!

On her Instagram account, Angel Locsin with her fiance Neil Arce and their team launched a "Donate a Bed" project. They aim to source out spare beds from their industry friends which will be used in the sleeping tents for health workers that they are going to set-up. A day after they collected the beds, the team began setting up the sleeping tents and after two days of hard work, they are able to turn-over the fully furnished sleeping tents to Taguig's local government unit. If you are wondering how the sleeping tents look like from the inside or how the security and sanitation on the area works, Niña Aquino, one of the volunteers who helped setting up the tents gave some details about that matter on her Facebook account. According to Aquino, there are receptionist with complete PPE to facilitate registration. There are also security guards roving 24 hours to ensure safety and tents will be disinfected and and will be cleaned regularly.

After visiting evacuation centers in Batangas, Angel Locsin made an accounting and lists down donated goods to Taal Volcano eruption victims. Known for her humanitarian efforts, the actress thanked everyone who helped her for this initiative which includes her family, friends in the industry and fans.
