It was 100 years ago when moving pictures or cinema became an art form in the Philippines.

It was spearheaded by the “Father of Philippine Cinema ,” José Nepomuceno.

Since then the Philippine film industry started to evolve and gave us moving pictures/movies that’s worth viewers’ every money spent to watch the show.

To celebrate Philippine film industry’s 100th year, Starcinema put the spotlight on every actor and actress who’ve made their mark in the local film industry.

On the list were the icons and legends in Philipine movies such as: “King of Comedy” Dolphy, Ms. Gloria Romero, the late Nida Blanca, Da King Fernando Poe Jr. and Eddie Garcia.

Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Maricel Soriano, Sharon Cuneta and Eddie Gutierrez also have contributed greatly to what the industry has become.

Angel Locsin is also one of the iconic movie stars who made a mark in the Philippine film industry.

Starting young as an actress, she starred in numerous films, 7 of which is under starcinema.

With Angel’s portrayal in her dramatic movies In The Name of Love and One More Try, she has become one of the most awarded actresses of her generation.

She was hailed as the Movie Actress of the year for two consecutive years for the said films.

Not only is she a dramatic actress, she also ace her characters as Princess Brisenio in Unofficially Yours and Andi Medina in The Third Party.

She was also able to penetrate the international award giving organization as her portrayal in Everything About Her as nurse Jaica Domingo earned her a Best Supporting Actress Award from Asia-Pacific Film Festival.

The thriving state of Philippine film industry is something that we should be proud of.

100 years after the first movie made by a Filipino filmmaker was shown, the industry is very much alive and prospers continuously!
