Angel Locsin pays tribute to former Environment Secretary Ms. Gina Lopez.
An exemplary woman who is passionate, brave and fervent advocate, Ms. Gina Lopez passes away at 65.
This news saddened a lot of people who remembered her great contribution as an advocate of children’s welfare, environment protection and conservation, and livelihood of indigenous people in far-flung provinces.
A lot of people who have been touched by Ms. Gina Lopez’s works and advocacies mourn her passing and expressed their admiration for her one of which is Angel Locsin.
In an interview, Angel Locsin pays tribute to former Environment Secretary Ms. Gina Lopez and enthusiastically narrated how she looks up to her, “Isa si Ma’am Gina sa mga taong hinahangaan ko at nirerespeto.
‘Pag nakikita mo sya, ‘pag nakakasama mo sya, di mo iisiping may sakit sya, she’s very jolly, she’s full of life, she loves people, kaya rin ganon ang malasakit nya sa kapwa nya kasi mahal nya ang mga tao talaga.
She’s the kind of person na hindi sasayangin ang oras, laging may makabuluhan na ginagawa. I really look up to her, she’s a fighter.”
Ms. Gina Lopez sure does contributed a lot for our environment and the Filipino people.
She’s the reason why we learn while having fun through the educational television shows she produced like Sineskwela, Bayani, Hirayamanawari, Mathtinik, Epol/Apple and Pahina.
She initiated Bantay Bata 163, the country’s first media-based hotline.
She was the Chairperson of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission and her efforts led to a river rehabilitation revolution which cleansed numerous tributaries in the Pasig river system.
These are just few of the many impeccable things Ms. Gina Lopez has done to protect our biodiversity. It is indeed a life well lived.
Your legacy will forever be remembered. May you rest in peace Ms. Gina.
