Tirso Cruz III lauds Angel Locsin’s outstanding performance in ‘The General’s Daughter’

Veteran actor Tirso Cruz III who plays the main antagonist, Santiago Guerrero, expressed his gratitude for the hype and reception “The General’s Daughter" has been getting. When asked about the show’s new all-time high rating, he says, “Well first and foremost, I’m very very glad and i’m thankful na naging part ako ng soap na ito. Then secondly, i’m so i’m so blessed na yung mga katrabaho ko talaga ang sisipag at ang gagaling nila. I mean like sabi nga daw wala kang tulak kabigin. Alam mo yung cast namin without.. modesty aside, i mean you don’t really have to work so hard because they lift you up. Itutulak ka talaga nila e.” He also adds that not only the casts but even their director, Mr. Manny Palo, their executive producers, staff, personal assistants and writers, help them in all angle and in all aspects making The General’s Daughter in one way or another, an ensemble work that has been blessed to register an a new record-high viewership share just recently.

He also revealed that viewers are so hooked on the show that he gets bashed for playing the villain. “Madalas oo maraming nagagalit na followers ni Angel. Pero hindi naman. I mean mostly, nakakatawa sa kanila. Minsan sa mall magkasama kami ng wife ko, biglang bigla may hahampas sa shoulder ko, ‘Ikaw napakasalbahe mo.’ Tapos biglang, ‘Pakuha po ng picture.’ Tapos sabi ko, ‘Eh bakit ka papakuha sa akin eh salbahe ako?’ ‘Eh hindi alam ko namang sa show mo lang yun.’ So basically it’s nice na it warms my heart na nakakaapekto ako sa kanila being the evil one being the bandit.” he shared.

Tirso also praised how exceptional Angel Locsin’s acting is and how humble and thoughtful she is off cam, saying, “Si Angel nakakatakot, she morphs into something kapag ka papasok na siya dun sa karakter. Kasi usually naman pagdating sa set, usually ako minsan I go out of my way, pupunta ako sa tent niya, na-knock ako. I greet or kung minsan aabutan ko ‘yan when she’s having lunch or merienda with the other crew or staff, pag dumating ako at babati ako. Ano ‘yan, i mean she’s so lovable, she’s so sweet. She looks after everybody.”

“Kapag yung trabaho na, talagang nag-iiba siya. Nag-iiba ang karakter niya, yung pagkatao niya. Makikita mo right before your very eyes, makikita mo nagmo-morph siya into Rhian. After that, biglang pagturn, si Angel na naman,” he added.

When asked what’s next on the show, he said to just tune in for more heart-stopping and breath-taking scenes on the upcoming episodes and once again thanked everyone for inviting them to their homes and promised to put their best forward to entertain us in return.
